When you join AmeriCorps, you choose how you want to give back. Mentor a child. Help boost graduation rates. Support communities impacted by natural disaster. Work to end hunger. These are just a few of the service opportunities available to you through AmeriCorps.
In exchange for your service, you'll earn a Segal Education Award of $6,895 that can be used to pay for college or graduate school, or to repay qualified student loans. Here in Massachusetts, most of our programs also provide members with a living stipend, health care benefits, child care assistance, robust professional development, and more. Some programs provide housing.
Each program has its own requirements, but AmeriCorps is open to individuals ages 17 and older. Depending on the program, you might also be required to pass a background check.
The Massachusetts Service Alliance is committed to seeking qualified individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to serve as AmeriCorps members. Please note that reasonable accommodations are available for interviews and for service upon request.
Service term lengths vary per program, but most last around 10 months, beginning in the late summer or early fall.
