Happy Wednesday! MSA has some exciting news from our board chair, Louise Keogh Weed.
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I announce the Massachusetts Service Alliance’s new CEO - Beth McGuinness.
Many of you know Beth from her 20+ years working at MSA, most recently in her role as Deputy Director. Beth started with MSA as an intern, and over the years has served in a variety of different roles, including Training Associate, Community Based Program Officer, and Director of Programs. With Beth as Deputy Director, MSA both grew and strengthened under her leadership – growing internal capacity to provide more targeted program support and enhancing member benefits for those who serve. Beth steps into this role with an extraordinary wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of national service at the local and national levels. As CEO, Beth will continue to build on her own leadership and programmatic successes as she looks to advance MSA’s own learning and development as an organization and grow MSA’s resources and network of partners across the Commonwealth.
“Having been with MSA for 22 years, this organization means so much to me personally and professionally and I feel honored that the Board has entrusted me with the responsibility to lead the organization at this time,” commented Beth. “I’m grateful to be able to do that work with such an unbelievable group of colleagues who care so deeply about our work and I thank each of them for their support during this transition. I look forward to partnering our collective experience with new learnings and ideas to enhance and strengthen our work across the Commonwealth. I’m excited about what lies ahead.”
On a personal note, I have never encountered such a highly qualified internal candidate for a nonprofit’s leadership succession. In conversation with MSA leadership, staff, and partners, I was struck by the unwavering ring support of, and belief in, Beth.
While I wasn’t surprised to hear this about Beth specifically, as I have been similarly impressed by her work, I don’t take it for granted to be in the wonderful position of appointing someone so universally respected. The Board has the utmost confidence that she is the right person to lead MSA in our next phase. We all look forward to supporting Beth and the incredible MSA team.
