About the Community Grant Review

MSA is looking for volunteers to help us review applications for our AmeriCorps 2023-2024 Formula Grant! MSA recognizes the importance of providing equitable and accessible resources to organizations that need funding and added capacity. To accomplish this goal, we’re hoping to broaden our grant reviewer pool by seeking volunteers who represent diverse communities across Massachusetts.

Why Volunteer?

• You’ll be making a difference! This process helps organizations get funding to tackle critical issues in Massachusetts, from providing academic support in low-income neighborhoods to protecting natural resources in at-risk ecosystems. With over 2,000 AmeriCorps members serving across the state, it’s very likely that their work improves your own community.
• You’ll gain experience! The grant review process is a great way of learning more about AmeriCorps and how nonprofits get funding through grants.

Who We're Looking For

MSA is looking for volunteers who meet one or more of our desired qualifications:

Please Note: Individuals who are affiliated with applicant organizations are not eligible to participate in the review. All reviewers will be asked to sign a Conflict of Interest form.

Responsibilities

If selected, reviewers will be responsible for:

• Watching a brief pre-recorded orientation and grant review training
• Reading and reviewing approximately 3-5 proposals*
• Attending a live 1.5-hour virtual Community Review Session on Monday, April 3rd from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. to offer feedback and recommendations on the proposals you reviewed

*Please Note: The number of assigned proposals is based on the number of AmeriCorps applications we receive.
